  • ANC3E – The Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANC) serving AU Park, Tenleytown & Friendship Heights. There are five Single Member Districts (SMD) for the AU Park/Friendship Heights ANC (Click here to view the Ward 3 ANC and SMD Map). Each SMD has approximately 2,000 residents and is represented by a Commissioner who is elected for a two-year term. The ANCs are the body of government with the closest official ties to the people in neighborhood agencies. The 1976 Home Rule Charter provides for Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANC).
  • ANC3D – ANC3D represents A.U., Berkley, Foxhall, Kent, New Mexico/Cathedral, Palisades, Spring Valley and Wesley Heights, in Ward Three. It is one of 37 ANC’s in Washington.   • American University Community Relations – Maintaining good relations with our neighbors is a priority for AU and we welcome the opportunity to be a valuable and valued community partner.
  • DC Citizen Federation – The Citizens Federation serves as the coordinating body for residents’ interests and is committed to bringing the voice of District taxpayers to policy discussions.
  • The Northwest Current – Local newspaper for people interested in the news that affects them directly. Information on what is going on in the neighborhood. A serious paper – filled with hard news that directly affecting the community.
  • Tenleytown Main Street – Founded in late 2015, Tenleytown Main Street is a community-based non-profit organization that seeks to revitalize the Tenleytown business corridor by leveraging its history to attract new businesses, create a stronger retail presence and make Tenleytown a more desirable place to work and play.
  • Tenleytown Listserv – A public forum for the Tenleytown, Washington, DC area including Tenleytown, AU Park, and Friendship Heights.
  • Cleveland Park Listserv – Cleveland Park is an email list for people who live in Washington, DC and the Cleveland Park neighborhood. It’s a way to meet, exchange news, and find out what’s happening in the area. The Cleveland Park Listserv is Washington’s most vibrant electronic community, the largest neighborhood email list in the country, and the only neighborhood email list with columns and features. Join us!  You can join the list by clicking on “+Join” or by sending a blank email (no subject line, no message) to: [email protected]. Yahoo will send you back an automated confirmation email. Open that email, click on the link in it and follow the prompts to confirm your membership in the group.
  • Janney Elementary Listserv – This is a group formed for parents of students at Janney Elementary School in Washington DC to discuss school or student related issues.
  • AU Park Parents Listserv – This group is intended to help parents in and around AU Park share information about life with children in the neighborhood.

  • RiverSmart program. This District-wide program offers incentives to homeowners interested in reducing stormwater runoff from their properties.
  • ReUseITDC – ReUseIt DC is an on-line forum that serves as a tool to make connections between community members who want to help each other, themselves, and their environment. In a disposable society where many items are discarded long before they have actually outlived their use, The ReUseIt Network helps get things from people who have them but don’t want them to people who want them but don’t have them. Everything posted must be 100% Free.
  • FreeCycleDC – FreecycleDC serves an environmentally aware and responsive community. It helps reduce consumption and waste by connecting people who are throwing away items with others who are seeking the same. You can freecycle computers, furniture, clothing, magazines, sports equipment, and stuff in your closet – keep it out of landfills by giving it a new home.
